Dental treatment is the field of medicine that any of us will sooner or later encounter. The possibilities of modern dentistry are enormous and allow not only for the treatment of cavities, but also for filling missing teeth regardless of their size, elimination of malocclusion as part of orthodontic procedures, effective control of periodontal diseases and complicated dental surgery. Unfortunately, the vast majority of treatments are not covered by health humana dental insurance  and a patient wishing to undergo comprehensive dental treatment must face high costs.

Modern dentistry has to offer more and more modern solutions, improving the aesthetics of the smile and increasing the patient’s comfort during the procedure. However, facilities such as painless, computer controlled anesthesia, dental surgery with Piezosurgery or modern implants are options that are not covered by health humana dental insurance under the National Health Fund.

Dentistry – what treatments and services within the NFZ

Patients who use dental treatment only under health humana dental insurance can also sufficiently take care of the condition of their teeth. NFZ guarantees us a free review of the condition of dentition together with instructions on oral hygiene and removal of tartar every twelve months, we also have the option of filling carious cavities free of charge. However, it should be remembered that chemo-curing fillings under the humana dental insurance are used only in the case of the front teeth (from one to three), in the treatment of the remaining teeth of the National Health Fund only amalgam pays for us. We also have the right to free endodontic treatment of the anterior teeth – four-channel root canal treatment, Friday or sevens are already fully paid (except for pregnant and puerperal women). Good news for those who are afraid of pain, associated with dental treatment is the fact that every patient – even the one using treatment under the NFZ – has the right to local anesthesia before the procedure. Other treatments that a patient can use for free are:

  • treatment of lesions on the oral mucosa
  • regular curettage within 1/4 of the dentition
  • removal of single-root and multi-root teeth
  • abscess incision with drainage and dressing
  • temporary supply of a broken jaw or jaw

Prosthodontics every five years, orthodontics only for children

Patients treating teeth under the NFZ are entitled to a free acrylic denture once every five years if they have lost at least five teeth. Once every two years, it can also be repaired free of charge. Orthodontic treatment under humana dental insurance is also heavily regulated – free treatment with a mobile device is only available to children up to the age of twelve. Older children can use only retention care free of charge, which aims to maintain the effects of orthodontic treatment. Once during the whole treatment you are entitled to repair or replacement of the deviceand corrective teeth grinding, only one can also take a free pantomographic picture. Fortunately, children can choose a wider range of humana dental insurance than adults: they can take advantage of free treatment of dairy products, root canal treatment, painting of permanent teeth up to the age of 18 and fissure sealing, but only until the age of seven. In addition, they have the right to use services designed to support the proper development of the teeth: surgical removal of the retained tooth, removal of tooth buds from orthodontic indications and resection of the tips of the roots of the anterior teeth.

How to use dental treatment under humana dental insurance? 

When we already know what humana dental insurance we are entitled to health humana dental insurance, it is also worth finding out where and on what terms we can use them. Treatments as part of basic dental care can be carried out in any dental office or clinic in the country, which has a contract with the NFZ – no nationalization . The dentist will accept us without a referral, and if we come to the office with toothache, we have the right to expect admission in the shortest possible time – usually the same day. However, it is worth remembering that by opting for a service under the National Health Fund we agree to the standard of its implementation, and therefore also to the materials used – there is no possibility of paying for a better seal.
